On Rome is Burning yesterday, Matt said that the Cardinals didn't do anything in their scheme that surprised them in their playoff game.

He said, they just played great and were better than the Falcons that day.

I think that's a classy thing to say. No tricks. They were just better than us that day. A refreshing thing to hear, because it's the truth. Sometimes teams lose because the other team played better.

Pretty good for a guy that young, i think.

2. Still Looking For Reds Under Your Bed????

I know, i know! In fact, as you know, i always thought the Pats taping thing was overblown because i firmly believe everybody did it. But, in this case, i think the Cards just played better than the Falcons and Ryan was pretty mature in saying it.

3. A friend and I were watching an old NFL Films video from the early 80's the other day.

The subject? Videotaping opponents signals from the sideline and stands. So yeah, it's been going on for awhile.

Having said that, I don't use it to excuse what that Pats did. They were wrong, and in my opinion weren't punished hard enough. However, to those people who think the Pats were the first and only team to do this, that kind of plain old ignorance about football isn't going to wash with me.

4. I Refuse To Get Into That Argument

I'm not convinceable that the Pats did anything unusual. But, those that hate the Pats think otherwise. There's no ground for agreement. So, it's not worth fighting about.

But, at least the show you watched does give me a little comfort that i'm not Pollyanna!
