5. So, in your analogy, Giambi is OJ, and Bonds is a killer/robber?
Wow, apparently you've turned against Barry! I never thought I'd live to see the day!

2. Giambi was never put under the same scrutiny
or suffered the kind of intense hatred that Bonds has been made to endure...I wonder why?

3. Racists. Clearly it has nothing to do with Bonds breaking the biggest record of all time.
While Giambi was hitting .200.

7. It has to do with both
Of course Bonds was in the spotlight due to his record breaking, but to deny there's a not a racial component to the Bonds hating is putting blinders on and ignoring the obvious.

8. I most definitely don't deny that there are racists who hate Bonds.
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 02:15 PM by Forkboy
But it's being used as a crutch when every other defense falls flat is getting to be very, very old. More often than not the charge is being used as a shield. It's meant to stifle any criticism of the guy by making people afraid to be called a racist.

If Whitey Whitebread broke one of sport's all time biggest records under a cloud of suspicion then he'd be getting his ass reamed too. The racism charge is really a pretty cowardly tactic to just throw out there randomly. If you have actual examples of such instances then apply it to those individuals. Just throwing it out there as a blanket type statement is crap.

4. Could be more than just Giambi:
"'Little guys' loom large in Bonds perjury trial"

San Francisco Chronicle, 1-31-09

They were players whom Greg Anderson called his "little guys" - onetime Giants who later acknowledged they had received banned drugs from Barry Bonds' weight trainer.

Now, six years after Anderson reluctantly mentioned some of his clients in an interview with federal agents, such former Giants as Benito Santiago and Bobby Estalella seem set to join Jason Giambi, now back with the A's, as prosecution witnesses in Barry Bonds' upcoming trial on perjury charges.

In grand jury testimony in 2003, the players admitted they had obtained steroids from Anderson, who ultimately pleaded guilty to a steroid charge in the BALCO scandal.
As a result, legal experts said the players could become pivotal witnesses in the government's attempt to prove that Bonds lied under oath when he denied knowingly using steroids.

It's "in the government's interest" to present testimony from the players who obtained drugs from Anderson in precisely the same way Bonds allegedly did, said Peter Keane, Golden Gate University law professor. Their testimony could be "powerful circumstantial evidence that Bonds was using the stuff and had to know he was using the stuff," Keane said.

6. I'd double and triple check anything Giambi has to say.
And then maybe check it again. Anyone even remotely familiar with police work knows how this game is played. You get the small fish to get the big fish. But all too often the smaller fish just says whatever keeps his ass in the water. :)
