Yankee fan rear-ends Red Sox Manager Terry Francona
Francona's Fender Bender

(2/15/05 11:33 p.m.) Red Sox manager Terry Francona talks about this year's team with Boston's WEEI sports radio from Florida Tuesday -- but runs into some trouble in the middle of the conversation. NECN's Chris Collins has more.

1. fyi - it wasn't a yankee fan

<snip>

Francona said he was traveling from City of Palms Park to a golf course to organize an event scheduled for today for his staff. Contrary to what he said on WEEI, the other driver did not have a Yankees bumper sticker on his vehicle.

"I was joking," said Francona.

2. I was listening to that interview when it happened
Francona: "Yeah, I think *WHAM* Jeez!...I gotta go, guys, someone just rear-ended me."

It was funny as hell, mostly because he wasn't hurt.

4. a few weeks ago i was listening to WFAN in New York
and Steve Somers, the host, was talking to Ed Coleman, a reporter who covers the Mets. Coleman was talking on his cell phone at the time and over the air this is what you heard:

Somers: "So tell us Ed, what about the Mets first base position?"

Coleman: "Well Steve, they're still in negotiations for Carlos Delgado, he's going to meet with the team --

hold on Steve, I have to pass and let this cop car thru--

-- he's going to meet with the team ---

Somers: "Ed....Ed are you there?"

Coleman: Steve, hi, uh, yeah...I'm gonna have to call you back, I've been ordered to pull over.

New York has the no driving on a cell phone law. :D
