Is Earnhardt Worth the Hype?
There is a large amount of hype around Dale Earnhardt Jr. There was an article in the local newspaper and the headline was "Earnhardt Back in the Front." Is Earnhardt as good of a driver to get so much attention, or is it just that he is Dale Earnhardt's son? How would most DUer rate him as a driver?

2. He is that Good
I have followed him since he was a rookie. Yes, he had a head start by driving a car owned by his dad (DEI), but he has shown considerable talent. Look at the people he finished ahead of last year.

His weaknesses in past is where he improved the most. Examples would be Road tracks, and finishing the race to get the maximum points. Some points are better than a DNF.

As a driver, I would rate him an 8. He still has to get a cup title

5. I agree
Dale Jr. does have considerable talent. He's finished the last 2 seasons quite strongly and was a serious contender for the cup. His improvement has been magnificent. However I'm still a Stewart fan.

3. Nascar isn't real racing, so who cares?

4. I agree with you on this, apple_ridge; but I still like him for telling
his crew to go see 9/11. Nascar isn't going to go away, so I'd rather have someone like him win than a brainless Bush Crime Family supporter.

6. This intrigues me. Why?
I don't like any racing at all, and I wonder why you say that this isn't real racing. They use "real" cars much like the ones you buy in the showroom, instead of the specially constructed F1 type cars.

They both go around tracks, and they both do road races.

So why isn't it REAL racing?

7. Because Southerners like it
Therefore it must be bullshit.

At least, that's about the only reason I can glean from any posts like that.

9. Disagree, respectfully
It might have started in the south, but it is not exclusive for southerners. I live in GA., and I can separate the sport and the fans.

Was that thing Ben Hur did bullshit? They just sat in the carriage, going in circles. Plus, look at the sponsorships. Definitely a national thing.

As far as the 911 comment earlier. Jr. was went up another notch in my book. And, It's all part of a plan

NASCAR has become NATIONALIZED (Not so RED anymore, ehehheeeehehe)

11. People who don't know any better
Might tell you he's just the name. I'll tell you the truth.

His name wasn't driving the car to 15 series wins. He was. And I'm not even a Dale Jr fan. :)
