1. No surprise. Best goalie of all time.
No disrespect to any of the great ones before him, but he's the best the League has ever had.

As a Bruins fan the Devils are one of two teams that scare the shit out of me, Washington being the other (we can't beat them this year for some reason). I can easily see NJ getting out of the East.

2. Granted Brodeur is great but I'll take Patrick Roy
nobody could step his game up come playoff time like he could..4 Stanley Cups, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy 3 times...and beat Brodeur head to head in the 2001 Finals.

3. I can't argue with anyone choosing Roy.

Even when he was on the Habs I couldn't help but like the guy. And Roy wins mega points for this comeback to Roenick years ago...

The two have such amazing stats that it's basically just a matter of preference at this point. For me, I like Marty better because I played and taught the position and seeing someone who plays with such flawless fundamentals is a treat to watch for me. The butterfly wasn't really encouraged unless the kid had already developed it on his own to a point where breaking them of it would have been harder than molding them to a more a solid positional type. Brodeur is like a living school of goaltending.

Roy had that perfect mix of cockiness and confidence and ability (great pitchers get that, too). He was more a flamboyant personality that Martin is, too. But when it was crunch time he came to play as good as anyone.

Did you see the highlights from the game in Montreal the other night when Brodeur passed Roy in wins? Brodeur got a huge ovation from the crowd (who appreciate hockey, and who especially appreciate Montreal born hockey players), and Roy was there. Classy move by him and the fans all around.

The two have such amazing stats that it's mind boggling. I'm just thrilled I've been able to watch both of their careers.

Roy

5. Good for him!
I know a distant cousin who's never met him!

We were working together and living within view of where he plays for months and she wouldn't go to a game and send him a note!

I would have.
