my take on the Champions League semi final 2nd leg matches |
|
Tuesday, it was simply boys to men  poor Arsenal got steamrolled by Manchester United, it was over in 11 minutes once Cristiano Ronaldo nailed that free kick. That red card to Fletcher was real harsh, maybe, just maybe UEFA will reconsider... but on to Rome for the Red Devils. Arsenal needs to reconsider relying solely on young players, they simply couldn't handle the situation at all.
And yesterday at Stamford Bridge....if the ref wasn't legally blind, he got his marching orders from UEFA to help out Barca...although it's really hard to reward the likes of Drogba, who went down like a sniper got him each time he looked at the ball. Now Chelsea had the lead thanks to the classy Michael Essien and that bolt of lightening...but they didn't finish Barca off. Then they wouldn't have to plead and beg for any penalty being rewarded. Not to mention Barca was down to 10 men on a rather generous red card to Chelsea. The post match mob scene was terrible--Drogba dropping the f bomb on international tv (live no less), Ballack, Terry, and Lampard losing their minds (again). I bet the ref will get a special medal from UEFA president Plantini, who is on record for absolutely HATING English football clubs :tinfoilhat:

1. Chelski deserved what they got |

they had numerous opportunities to finish Barca off. Sure, there were a few borderline PK non-calls but the worst decision was the red card when Anelka appeared to trip over his own feet...
The EPL is the best league in the world but as an Arsenal supporter I felt a kind of perverse glee watching Chelsea go down that way.
