What's going on with David Ortiz?
After leaving 12 men on base yesterday, he is now batting .208 with 0 (zero) HRs. This from one of the most feared hitters in the game the last few years. What's the problem?...Was he juicing previously?..No Manny?..After effects from his wrist injury? Or is it just a slow start?

As someone who looks upon the Red Sox as the lesser of the evils in the AL East, I'd like to see him return to his previous form.

1. Juicing doesn't help you hit that ball, but rather, hit it further. He was considered 'washed up'
when the Sox first got him. Maybe he actually is now.

3. I hope he rights it soon...for his sake...I've always liked him...
...always happy, always a good influence on those around him...however, at his age and his size, it may just finally be over.

4. A combination of things, I'd say. He's 38 and has a sore wrist.
No Manny or Youkilis in the lineup. Maybe he's lost some bat speed too.

Must be the wrist and/or protection in the line-up

5. The juicing question was just raised by my father a few weeks back.

I honestly have no real evidence of any kind, and suspect it might just be a combination of age and the wrist, but one has to wonder when the numbers drop so rapidly like that. He did have a slow start last year as well, but not this slow. And I don't think it's no Manny because both Youk and Bay are hitting the ball all over the damn place like a couple of madmen.

Baseball's biggest mystery so far, at least in these parts.

7. Ortiz is getting old.
He's in his mid 30s now...maybe he's just losing his touch.

9. Who cares?
He plays for the red sox so who cares what happened to him? Except maybe ESPN. You know, all Yankees/Red Sox/Mets all the time.

10. It's serious lack of Manny-ness
But give props to Jason Bay for doing well despite having to play in the same lineup as David OrtiZZZZZZZZZ.

12. Let me tell you I'm THRILLED he was benched for the Mariner series.
It's not like they only make one trip a year. I've never seen the guy play, so it would have been nice if they'd have at least let him pinch hit or something.

I know Francona has to do what's best for his team, but with Youkilis hurt and Ortiz benched, two players I wanted to see last night weren't available.

15. It's the kind of drop off a steroid user would go through when he stops juicing.
It wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.

18. More like a stopped watch
That can manage to be correct twice a day.

His other target is David Wright that he thinks is juicing.

He's really got the jowels and leathery skin complexion of a juicer.
