Attn: DC sports fans - Tampa area steroid bust implicates Nationals and Capitols.
Major steroid dealer behind bars after bust

Reported by: Keith Baker
Email: kbaker@abcactionnews.com
Last Update: 4:58 am

LAKELAND, FL -- A couple responsible for a majority of illegal anabolic steroids in central Florida were arrested in their home Tuesday, according to detectives.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Major League Baseball has joined the investigation.

Richard and Sandra Thomas were arrested at their Stoney Creek Drive residence after agents acted on a tip that they were about to receive a large shipment of steroids. After the steroids were delivered, agents executed a search warrant.

(snip)
When asked if he sold illegal anabolic steroids to professional athletes, Thomas said, "You name the sport, and I've sold steroids to athletes who play it." Without naming names, Thomas said the pros come from major league baseball, pro hockey and pro football, including players with the Washington Nationals baseball team and the Washington Capitals hockey team.

(snip)
One type of steroid, Oxymetholone, is from Iran. Thomas said "cops are afraid of this steroid because it makes people so crazy they can flip a car."

1. Yeah right...I'm sure the Nats are juicing

Thats why they suck so bad! Honestly, the Nats had at least one player in the past that was named in the Mitchell report. So I wouldn't be surprised if that guy was a candidate.

2. "...it makes people so crazy they can flip a car." No it doesn't.
While Oxymetholone (Anadrol) is a very potent ORAL steroid, it doesn't have the purported Superman-like crazed inducements of strength and rage. It's a very common bodybuilding drug, and last I checked I haven't seen mass reportings of cars being flipped over in Muscle Beach, CA.

Sounds like just another case of a scumbag dope dealer talking shit about how much better his coke is.

3. You know what confuses me about this guy?
I'm thinking he thinks that naming names will get him leniency I suppose...but of all teams to name the NATIONALS? Thats really is fucking funny.

14. I saw the footage of the bust on the local news last night.
They had all the dope on this big table to be tagged and bagged. This guy had a LOT of gear. Of course, if the guy had said the Yankees or the Dodgers, nobody would pay as much mind because those teams are already "tainted" whereas the Nats and (egads!) a hockey team are out of left field. Maybe he wants his own Mitchell report.

6. Uh oh..I wonder if any of the Nationals fans
are going to jump to conclusions like they have with Bonds?....After all, if rumor and innuendo was good enough to convict Barry it should be good enough to convict the Nationals.

7. If any of the Nats' bodytypes completely changes in their late '30s and their numbers go up
when most players' numbers are in decline, they will.

8. An ex-Nat was in the Mitchell report..
I would be suspicious of him, yes. Oh and its not just rumor and innuendo with Barry Bonds . But then, you know that. You just like to pretend otherwise. "Flaxseed oil"...:eyes:

9. I see.. an "ex Nat"...that must be it
so you don't give any credence to this report at all...at least not with any current Nationals. However, you have accused Barry of everything under the sun..despite the fact that he has never been suspended by MLB or convicted of anything.

What a hypocrite..

10. There was no testing when he was playing doofus!
So he couldn't be suspended. And lots of people around him sure have been convicted of stuff! I also haven't seen any Nat right now who suddenly got big, had his hat size suddenly increase and jumped up in HR's all of a sudden. But I did discuss with someone elsewhere that I thought Dmitri Young might be someone on the team who would do steroids.

No one on this team however has been intimitely linked with a lab that makes designer steroids like Barry Balco Bonds.

13. Be interesting see how the NHL responds to this if true.
We already know how baseball handles it, but the NHL actually takes this stuff seriously.
