Detroit Public Schools principal, bookkeeper suspended over alleged misuse of funds
Detroit Public Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb has suspended the principal and bookkeeper at Randolph Career and Technical Center, alleging misuse of school funds.

(snip)

The investigation alleges that Principal Gwendolyn Miller used Randolph funds to make more than $29,000 in home mortgage payments between December 2006 and June 2009.

Bookkeeper Eugenia Holimon spent $2,995 on a projecter for her boyfriend and gave signing power of the school's checking account to her son, who made about $6,700 in unauthorized purchases at Sam's Club. Holimon has been a DPS employee for 19 years and Miller for 26 years.

This is on of 86 (!!!) investigations of fraud ongoing in the Detroit public schools.

1. Just a minute here....
These people could be suspended for misuse of funds, correct? But how about that republican Rubio in Florida running for office? He misused state funds. He bought material, he had repairs done using these funds. But yet he is upset with HIS OPPONENT because someone reported this mis-use to the media. Who surprised everyone by actually telling Florida about it. But they aren't doing anything to him.

And how about Sanford who mis-used state funds. He paid for trips to South America to see his girl friend and they did nothing to him.

Gee I guess that is one of the perks for being a republican. No wonder people like McConnell, Boener and Rush and Beck for example are republicans they can steal right out in the open and get away with it.

2. I think it's a perk of being anyone in power
regardless of party or position.

The public school officials stealing money from the tax payers that should be going to the students deserve to be fired, and have criminal charges against them. And any other public official deserves the same.

The IRS doesn't hesitate to give us regular people jail time for tax fraud. The penalties should be far more severe for officials who commit tax fraud by stealing the taxes after they've been collected.
