who endorse this bullshit, as the Broad graduate announces the closure of 45 more schools in what was once the largest district in the state. It is also indicated that some of what he's doing is illegal. So what? Nobody's going to stop him.

edit to add: I still think 98% graduation rate in any time frame is not only overly ambitious but unrealistic.

1. And they're bulldozing 1/4 of the city
Because the population has left. Do you suppose they should keep a handful of kids in 5 different schools and spend the money on electricity instead of books?

2. But he's building 70 new schools. If I gave you the impression
that I was in favor of not closing some schools, I apologize.

3. It will be voted on by the citizens of Detroit.
If they want it, they should get it. If they don't want it, it won't happen.

4. 5 years??
What are they smoking?? This year is half over, they are going to disrupt a lot of kids with school closings and they think they are going to bring up graduation rates by 40% inside of 5 years? Those charter schools better be built by Hogwarts.
