4. Hateful. Hateful.
You know what? The first couple who were married in San Francisco after the California Supreme Court ruling were a couple of lesbians named Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon. They were together 50 years. These two magnificent women were out and fighting for our rights in the 1950's. In a time when gay and lesbian people were invisible. When being openly gay or lesbian would destroy your lives.

Del Martin passed away this year.

And now Phyllis Lyon, who has their marriage to remember the love of her life, may very well see that marriage nullifed. Because of bigots. Like Rick Warren.

Hateful. Words fail me as to how disgusting this is.

6. I wonder if Rick Warren will personally sign Del's marriage nullification posthumously

7. You know, Bluebear....
4 years ago, my dad passed away of cancer. He and my mom were married 50 years.

I was talking to Mom earlier today, and while she's dealt, more or less, with my dad's death, the holidays are still kind of bad. She said today, in fact, that she misses Dad so much.

And I imagine how Mom would feel if some bigots ended up nullifying her marriage to Dad. And that's how I can imagine how horrible it will be for Phyllis Lyon.

9. Heartbreaking.
And learning that there are so many callous people, even here, is also heartbreaking.

8. Instead of being frustrated...
We need to galvanize our base and take action. We need to continue to protest and let the public in general know that gay marriage isn't going to go away; that it is inevitable, and that we cannot be silenced. I urge all of you to think of how we should spend our time most effectively from now until March when this case goes before the SC (again)..

Being a gay man who intends to move to California, it broke my heart that proposition 8 passed. And I hate these bastards as much as all of you, but we can't accomplish anything this way. There are bigots out there. Let's face it. But we are a powerful community, and we have tons of support. We need a plan. I'll never give up in my fight for marriage equality.

If the worst should happen, and the court doesn't overturn Proposition 8, we need to plan ahead for 2010. Gay marriage will be legal in California. Just like gay marriage will be legalized in NY, NJ, VH, and IA soon. Again, as frustrated as you all are, I remind you to never give up the fight, and let's put the bigots in their place.
