I very rarely go to gay bars. Amongst the straight people I hang out with
many of them have been apoplectic over Obama's picks so far.

I guess I can't be too wrong if 'those who have proper sexuality' see things the same way I do.

Go figure.

1. It comes down to whether you would rather have McCain.
The country (apparently) isn't yet ready for a pro-GLBTQ president. It sucks, but progress will be made in the next eight years and I seriously doubt Obama will do anything to restrict that. IMO of course.

4. No It Doesn't.
Stop excusing Obama's cowardice because he's theoretically better than the alternative. McCain could have won, and Obama would still be just as much of a coward.

5. You disagree and then put words in my mouth.
I said nothing of the sort. I said we elected the person we did. That's ALL. With all the flaws inherent. This nation elected him. We (apparently) as a nation are not ready for the kind of president you or I want. But as I also said, I do not believe that Obama will block our progress, certainly not as many others, particularly the rethugs would. THAT'S ALL. So go jump down someone elses throat.

14. I think I'll continue jumping down Obama's throat, and here's why...

Obama shares responsibility for the passage of Proposition 8. He owes us.

Now go off to the GDP forum and play with the others.

16. You put words in MY mouth AGAIN
I said stop jumping down MY throat. Secondly, give me proof that Obama shares responsibility for the passage of Prop 8. Other than guilt by unaffiliation, because if we're going to play that game 98% of this nation is at fault and therefore it isn't something special that we can throw at a single person just because we want to. Of course, you won't have a real answer, you'll twist my words again and you'll belittle my inteligence, which based on your responses isn't something you should be trying.

18. Actually I'm glad you asked...

at the Saddleback debate at Rick Warren's church Obama clearly stated his belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, that the heterosexual marriage is sacred (implying that homosexual marriage cannot be sacred), and that "God is in teh mix". I don't particularly care that Obama holds these personal religious convictions, but what I do care about is that he chose to use his platform to preach to us, in the context of the setting at Rick Warren's church, about which types of relationships are to be considered "sacred". What people who live outside of California fail to realize is that these sound bytes, spoken by Obama, were very successfully used in Yes on 8 ads and a Yes on 8 robocall (which I happened to receive). Imagine receiving a telephone call containing a message from the presidential candidate that you fought so hard for, telling you that your marriage is basically invalid?

Now, at the risk of putting words in your mouth, you will likely defend Obama by pointing out that he was against Prop 8 on Constitutional principles. This may be true, but the fact remains that his message containing his religious principles had much more of an effect on Prop 8's outcome.

19. He's also said numerous times...
Particularly in his nomination acceptance speech, that gay and lesbian couples should receive equal treatment under the law. Likewise, it came out today that he will remove DADT. So far, that's progress to me and shows that we're moving in the right direction, not in spite of him either.

7. Frankly...
...it doesn't matter who occupies the office. The same group of people will be in control regardless. It's called governing between the forty yard lines.

Most of Wall Street voted for Roosevelt in 1932 just as most of them voted for Obama in 2008. He has Geithner, Summers, Rubin, Volcker...the same folks who got us into this mess.

I don't think they can fix what's wrong. I really don't.

15. ?????
Are we to rubber stamp everything our elected president does for four years just because somebody else would have been worse?

That sounds like shrub supporters to me.

17. Thanks for putting words in my mouth. Have a nice day.
And clearly, if I was a "shrub supporter" I wouldn't be around anymore. Unless you're calling into judgment the work of the mods and admins. In which case, I'd direct your generalizations towards them.

In summary: "If you're not with us you're against us." Sounds like something Bushco tried after 9-11. Remember where that got us?

11. Oops, I guess it was Grover Cleveland who moved his sister into the White House.
But she might have been gay as well. Here's an article that references Buchanan, Lincoln, and the Clevelands....
