Kraft Foods boycott by Focus on the Family for supporting Gay Games.
Edited on Fri May-13-05 07:41 PM by FreepFryer
PLEASE CALL OR WRITE TO VOICE YOUR SUPPORT!

Kraft Foods under fire by anti-human rights group

Focus on the Family ('American Family Association'/AFA) has targeted Kraft Foods, which makes products ranging from macaroni and cheese to Ritz Crackers, for a boycott because of that organization's sponsorship of the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago.

Kraft is maintaining a 1-800 number to hear from the public. When the boycott was announced, they were swamped by Dobson's cronies - but now apparently we're running about even - and the word is just getting out!

PLEASE: Support Kraft Foods in their efforts to support human rights and the gay community.

To voice your opinions:

Call Kraft toll-free number
at 1-800-323-0768

or write to:
CEO Roger K. Deromedi
3 Lakes Dr.,
Northfield, IL, 60093.

In addition, Kraft's generic online contact form is at www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?m=contact_us/cu_form1

{edit}: if you want to be extra-snarky, use the AFA's own email system to show your support for Kraft:

1. Kraft's parent company
sells cigarettes AND sponsors "stop smoking" commercials.

That way they'll never lose a penny.

I have to sit out on this one.

2. You can still voice your support for their support for the Games.
It doesn't represent an endorsement of their Big Tobacco owners.

3. Perhaps you could send them a note praising their support
...but still skip the lousy cheese when you head to the supermarket???

5. Kick - I called. I believe it's best to support
good behavior when it does happen. I still won't buy their food, though.

6. Wow. All those rednecks with no "dinner kits" or meat by-product.

Or "cheese food".

On edit: I chose the "extra snarky" option. Thanks!

8. I was already boycotting them for selling cigarettes and other reasons
1) Kraft uses child slave labor to pick their cocoa beans.

2) Their huge donations to Republicans.

11. I tried. There was no answer. I'll try again. And I'll be polite
Something to the effect of:

"It's a nice gesture, but you're really just spitting into an ocean that you helped create. Giving money to the people attacking those you're "supporting" with the gay games is just a disingenuous pretense."

9. Love Snarky, make sure it works
When you read the fine print on a lt of activism sites they warn you that they may stop one of your mails from going through if they believe it is not consistent with the purposes of the organization's goals.

I'm NOT saying that the AFA is stopping mail to Kraft....But you can bet they will if they can!
