Prop 8 Donors Fear Gay Boycott
The list of Prop 8 donors is supposed to come out today, but I can't find it anywhere. This article turned me on to the issue.

http://buzzflash.com/articles/analysis/604
There hasn't been much evidence of a boycott for any local businesses who donated to Prop 8, but it could happen. I figure, if these people were willing to take the profits of gay patrons and put it toward Prop 8, we should have a right to know who they are.

Then they should not give to anti-gay causes. It's called the MARKETPLACE, baby.

11. There are separate sets of data for each committee
that contributed. Here's a much longer collection of late filings and filings over $5000:

12. Interesting list -
Looks like much of the money came from the family of/or employees of Caster Family Enterprise. Anyone know who they are?

I also noticed that one person gave $50,000 and listed their title as "Office Manager". That must be one well paying office.

13. That's one of the smaller committees that was
collecting bucks. There are much larger ones, and the late filing and large donor lists are much, much longer.

It's fascinating data, it seems to me. Perhaps useful, as well...

15. Every gay-owned business in the US should enter this information into their computer systems.
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 03:34 PM by IntravenousDemilo
And if any of the donors wish to pay for something with a credit card, then voilà! something will pop up on the screen, and the card can be rejected and the person will have to pay with cash. I'll leave it to the techies to figure out how this can be accomplished.

Bigots must not be given any quarter. They must be made to suffer at least inconvenience for their hateful views.

16. Yes, and local GLBT organizations should publicize local
businesses that are on the list as donors. It will be the local groups who will have the greatest impact. There are just too many names to deal with, except at the local level.

There will be many surprises, I'm certain, on the local level.

20. I'm straight, too, and I'm going to check these lists against`
places I do business. Any that are on it are going to get no business from me, I promise.

I noticed lots of medical people on the list. Doctors, dentists, and the like. College professors, too.

As I said, local organizations need to mine these lists and publicize the donors in their area. No doubt, the donors will be very glad to have that publicity, right?

Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 04:13 PM by beam me up scottie
The bigoted pos also donated several thousand dollars to support the recently defeated "English Only" amendment which would have required all official Nashville business to be conducted in English.

Gotta give props to the Nashville CBS affiliate, during the local news segment they not only mentioned him by name, they also disclosed the exact amount he was willing to donate to the noble cause of legalizing discrimination.

We've been dissing him to anyone and everyone who will listen.

I'd hate to live next door to that asshole.

Meanwhile, here's some 300+ names for you from the Capitol Resource Institute (not "ProtectMarriage.com"). More will be coming soon.

BTW, today was the final day for filing and we just got the January 30th information. It's likely that thousands more names will be coming in over the course of the next few days.

My wife and I have been following this for months. Expect something big hopefully within a week or two....
