Gay Oregon College Students Receive Death Threats

(Ashland, Oregon) Fliers urging the killing of gays and lesbians have flooded Southern Oregon University.

One flier bore the message: "And the Bible says that homosexual offenders should be put to death. ... So help eradicate homophobia now. Kill the Queer."

The fliers have littered the campus during the past two weeks. But, while most students and administrators were angered and shocked, gays on campus were not

"I am not shocked by this, and neither are my brothers and sisters," Deltra Ferguson, coordinator of the university's Women's Resource Center told The Mail-Tribune of Medford. "We are under assault daily."

Why is it people only follow certain parts of the Bible?

1. Deluded people

only look at the part of the Book that appears to agree with their views. There is so much fear on their part that it has blinded their reason....and why? What is it that is so horrible about one's sexual orientation? How in the world does it really effect anyone else? The whole anti-gay agenda appears to be designed to distract people from those who really DO effect their lives in negative ways-corrupt businesses that don't pay their workers a living wage and whose CEOs loot the treasury so that investors are out millions;polluters whose acts desicrate the environment;politicians whose rash acts endanger the lives of people both here and abroad.

5. I'd like to see chapter and verse where it says that.....

I've never seen it. I have read that eating shellfish is a HORRIBLE sin but selling your daughter into bondage is cool.

Regardless, the laws set forth in Leviticus were ended with the arrival of the New Testament, at least thats what they taught me years ago.

if memory serves, eating milk and meat in the same meal is an abomination, as is men sleeping with other men. So if these people are out to kill gays, they'd better also take out any restaurant that serves cheeseburgers, if they are intent on following what Leviticus says.

BTW, Jesus never said anything about gays, and the one passage from Paul's letters that is always cited has one cryptic line in a whole chapter, the rest being devoted to saying why prostitution is wrong and how keeping one's mind on sex can mean one can't advance spiritually.

Havn't read the book in a long time since I decided I prefered to make up my mind on things rather then let a book tell me what things are... but does it say anywhere that homosexuality is a crime punishible by death? :shrug:

7. The people who follow these laws need to convert from Christian to

Orthodox Jew. They're following the Jewish laws, the Old Testament, after all.

Funny though, didn't someone post on here about how Jews were just as if not more likely to support same-sex marriages as actual GLBT people?

I wish these people would either stop complaining about gay people or start following ALL of those laws. They just pick and choose to fit their bigotry.
