Would you mind if a straight woman hung out occasionally? |
|
If I promise to be good and not step on any toes?
I believe that gay people are the proverbial "canaries in the coal mine" - whatever the extreme right thinks they can get away doing to you, they will eventually try on the rest of us. So I think it's important to be in touch with the gay community, so to speak.
Does anyone mind if I hang out?

10. That is too funny what you said...I have said when I get dressed up |
|
in pink, frills, high heals and lotsa makeup and hair in curls I feel like I think a gay man feels like and not a feminine women (whatever that feels like) I am a flats, pants, straight hair (since I was a kid I hated curls) and a lose floppy shirt...no bra. I am not gay because I actually hung out with gay women thinking ... maybe ... and decided it was not who I was. So I think there are a lot of women who accept the gay lifestyle and think masculinity and feminism is VERY over sold!

I feel like I'm in drag in makeup, but in a suit and tie (my preferred dress-up) I'm not exactly butch either. :-D Oh yeah, and I write gay romance (my own characters, not fanfic slash!) and create male-male erotic art. No, seriously. It's my hobby. Maybe it makes up for all the fake girl on girl but not even close to lesbian porn that straight men seem to like or something :-D

I was touched by the good hetero friends who have offered their support to GLBT DU'ers after what has gone on DU the past week or so...the "gay and lesbians should leave the Democratic Party" crap and its variants posted. Several hetero DU'ers have offered their support and friendship to the GLBT DU'ers.
I'd like it if you hung out here.

Only kinds of things that are "uncool" would be to go hitting on the self-identified lesbians and bisexual woman. At least, that's the only offensive thing I can think of.
And another is that we try to stay on the GLBT topic as much as possible. If people want to go talking about the NHL season cancellation, for instance, that belongs over in the Lounge or sports-related forums. Get what I'm saying?
We're here mainly as a community and to learn about the issues important to us. If that's why you're here, too, FM, I see no problem.

Moonbeam lets out a sigh of relief. Another straight woman asked first!
Hello, for those who don't know me, I'm straight (with bi tendencies, but I rarely ever talk about that because I've never acted on them) and am a huge supporter of LGBT rights. Now that the all-consuming election is over I consider it to be the biggest fight of my life.

I only found the site a day or 2 before the election.. but I've spent countless hours reading posts here. It became my new obsession..lol. I wake up and come here & spent the entire day in front of the puter yesterday, until about 3pm. Then I took a shower, ran to get some groceries we desperately needed, brought home a rotisserre chicken, and sat back down here! LOL. My other message boards aren't getting the attention right now that they usually get, and I know I have a few pm's to answer.
In the short time I've been around, I just happened to run across your posts often. I'm still trying to get the feel of things around here, and try to not step on toes. My first post I was feeling a bit emotional, and started to go off, on nobody in particular, but I apologized for it. (It had to do with my state, and the fact that they signed in favor of the FMA, and I was upset over it. I wrote them telling them that, and I recieved replies from 2 offices thanking me for supporting them & thier decision, and that they were glad to know I was in favor of it!! AHHHH!!!) :wtf: I like the picture & sigs I've seen... MORANS. Ok, so I'm still mad. *sigh* (And what's bad is, one of the offices was a Democratic party, and I think I don't want to vote for him if he decides to go again in '06, just because they don't even have the curtesy to READ their mail.)
Oh man, all that on 1/2 cuppa coffee. I think I need to go get more. I really don't like cold coffee..lol.
PS-Thanks for the welcome!!

This is an open forum, you don't have to be queer to come here. It's just to the open minded, basically. Don't worry, it's not like people are going to flame you for posting if you're not a gay person.
Oh, and <3

You can even step on a few toes - just not mine :)
The only problem I have with straight girls is the bizarre choices they make in straight guys.
And we aren't the only ones on the front line in this "war", straight women are too. So hang out as often as you want, talk, communicate, argue, make friends.
So you are very much welcome here M. Butterfly. I look forward to seeing you again:)

28. This PFLAG-er always posts my two-cents' worth wherever on DU. |
|
As if anyone could make me shut up.
I'm a hetero prudy old haggy married mom in her 40's.
But I support my GLBT friends wholeheartedly (before the election, during the election, after the election).
Take care! I just set up a montly donation to PFLAG. Why? Because it is what is right - it is a great organization that has provided support where needed.
Take care!

I stopped in last night to ask a question. Seemed like a very cool forum and I kind of wanted to weigh in on or ask about other things but I didn't want to be pushy.
Even though I'm a middle-aged, straight woman, GLBT issues are one part of my everyday life partly because of friends and partly because of work. So, I'm always interested.
