3. LGBT is politically correct - |
|
but otherwise, I'm not sure it matters.
The reason is that lesbians felt invisible in groups labeled "gay"as virtually all groups used to be exclusively. We fought (mostly back in the 80s) to have lesbian added to the name of the groups at all, and the thought is that if "Gay" comes first it makes us less visible. More recently (the last decade or so), trans (T) and bi(B) individuals fought to be specifically named as part of the community in which many were already very active leaders.

15. My guess is that it isn't so much accepted - |
|
as not debated. I don't know too many forums here that actively debated the name.

LGBT when it's a female poster and GLBT when it's a male poster (I use GLBT myself).

or Questioning? I am sure i had heard that is what the Q stands for. As for the original question, I go with LGBT cause L=females only; the rest can be of both sexes so I tend to lump them together.

Lesbian, gay, bi, trans, intersex, queer, questioning, ally. Just a little over the top, IMO.
I id as queer and genderqueer, but LGBT covers the bases well enough in my mind. Or we could just say "fuck all the labels, we're a community who welcomes anyone who finds themselves outside the het gender binary norm."
