GOP head tells FOX News his party has "bottomed". And he hopes that's the case.
"There's one Republican Party," the GOP head said on Fox News.

"There's not a Newt Gingrich side. There's not a Sarah side. There's no Mitt side."

Steele also said that the GOP had "bottomed and we hope that's the case." Citing upcoming gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, he suggested that the GOP would soon know how its efforts to regroup were being received by voters.

"But," Steele cautioned, "whether or not you've bottomed or not, you better have something to say to the American people." "I think the party has now positioned itself to talk about creating wealth versus wealth distribution."

11. It's entirely possible.
Although "Michael" might need a double for the frontal shots.

...just sayin'.

5. Hmmmmm: GOPtopper or GOPbottom?
Michael Steele - definitely top o' the GOP
Sarah Palin - do I have to go there?
Rudy Giuliani - top, no bottom, no top, OK both.
Michele Bachman - doesn't know where anything belongs.
Rush Limbaugh - I think we all know.
John McCain - top dammit.
Newt Gingrich - bottom (feeder)
No GOPpers "on the side." Steele says so.

9. Steele is talking but his own party is not listening.
The hard core, hovering perpetually around that magic 28% number of hard rightwingers, still want to flog wedge issues. They have become the party of hate.

"Creating wealth" my @ss! No one trusts the market, investments, real estate, we want jobs, we all need to be talking jobs. Manufacturing jobs.

15. Before the 1980s, the Republican Party was not the home ...
... of fundamentalist religious fanatics, let alone that such people were their "base".

Such people were not a political constituency as a group. Many were Democrats on economic grounds. There nothing inherently fundy Christian about Republican economics, though now they play it that way.

The Republicans made a pact with the Jesus-devil, and only now they are suffering the effect.
