GOP tells Lynch to kill gay marriage bill
GOP tells Lynch to kill gay marriage bill

(Concord, New Hampshire) New Hampshire Republicans are telling Gov. John Lynch to veto same-sex marriage legislation before the Democratically-controlled House and Senate can agree on a compromise amendment.

At a press conference, GOP members from the House and Senate accused Democrats of wasting time when they should be concentrating on the economy, and urged Lynch kill the marriage bill now.

Republicans said the voters should decide whether same-sex couples should have the right to marry.

“Now is the time to allow the citizens of New Hampshire to vote on a same-sex marriage referendum,” Sen. Minority Leader Peter Bragdon (R) told reporters.

A same-sex marriage bill passed the legislature earlier this month, but Lynch said he would veto it unless it offered better protections to churches that oppose same-sex marriage.

1. Gov. Lynch stands with the religious right, not GLBT constituents.
Disgraceful.

4. Where does it say that churches will be forced to marry anyone?
These fucking people are idiots. They don't have to do anything they don't want to. Always playing the victim.

5. I think (hope) that's just a case of repuke noisemakers making noise
The Associated Press, via Boston.com, gives a more encouraging impression:

...Key Republicans who switched sides indicated Thursday they're open to supporting a compromise.

"I think the votes are there to pass it and put it on Governor Lynch's desk," said Rep. Anthony DiFruscia, a Windham Republican who lead the fight for negotiations.

Amherst Republican Cynthia Dokmo, who also voted against passage, said she would like to see the bill tweaked.

"I would like to see this bill pass," she said. "It just seems to me it really doesn't hurt anyone and it helps some people. It's not going to affect my marriage."
