2. Jealous.
Wish I could be there with all of you.

This weekend is Brooklyn Pride, but I'm too busy with volunteering back here in Jersey to attend.

I never got to enjoy Brooklyn Pride since I was always bartending, and until recently, avoided most Pride 'celebrations'.

Have fun!

8. i have a family event the weekend of NYC pride so I can't
attend that. I cancelled out seeing Lisa's band play in Brooklyn tonight to attend this Boston thing since I feel, this year more than ever, I should participate though I haven't in years.

Anyway, you go "above and beyond" for the "cause" and I salute you for that. :patriot: :hi:

I can't march or attend the Brooklyn or NY Prides. They're too large for the crowds to be safe unless I was with a couple of people. :(

The Staten Island Pride is always lame. It's small enough to be safe, but not really worth canceling other plans.

But I hope everyone else will be out there having a lot of fun. I'd love to see a lot of pictures next week. :grouphug:

How are the Boston Pride march and festivities? I've never really seen them or heard how they compare to other cities.

7. We had a fantastic time last year!
Great crowds along the parade route, good peeps at the end, where all the booths and performances are, in front of City Hall. They like to make Sniffa carry a Pride $ bucket, 'cause the boys and girls looooove him.

 We'll report back, most def.

12. Dress him (in)appropriately to attract attention then!
That'll increase donations. :P

I miss being young and able to strut and flaunt at pride.

9. I ran into a gay navy guy from my first ship I lived with and lost
touch with who was doing security for the outdoor block party at the 1999 Boston Gay Pride event. I always run into people I haven't seen for years when I attend the Boston ones. I like them. It's not as huge as the NYC or SF ones which i have attended in the past.

11. That is really cool.
:)

I can't say I've run into anyone I really know since I moved away from Buffalo. But that's because, you're right, NYC pride is HUGE.

I keep meaning to be in Montreal for their pride week, but I haven't managed it yet. It is in August, and I hear that it's big enough to be exciting but small enough to be friendly. It sounds like Boston is kind of on the same scale. :)

14. That would be Great! I prefer to travel with people instead of alone
and I haven't been to Montreal in a few years so I'm past due for a trip.

I don't speak French, but the friends of mine that I visit up there do, and they'd be happy to meet DUers. They're an international gay couple that both immigrated to Canada so they could get married, and they are wonderful people. :)

If anyone else has friends in Montreal we could have a bit of a private festival when we get up there, meeting and greeting and seeing the city.

15. that bites....
Not much going on here, other than a gay mens' chorus concert that I'm attending, and an HIV fundraiser brunch that ought to be fun- Varla Jean Merman is the entertainment.

18. Please have a wonderful time!
The Brooklyn Pride had, as of a few years ago a wonderful energy to it that the Manhattan Pride doesn't really have anymore.

I hope it is still like that. As an outsider visiting the borough, it seemed really cool and loud, and was more open to the subcultures of the LGBT community, and had more of strong lesbian leadership and presence than the Manhattan Pride seemed to have.

It was a lot of fun, less tame, and more of what would scare the bejezus out of fundie protesters. :P

23. I've really missed it

This will be my first Pride since I've been back home. Phoenix Pride was kind of pathetic...Flagstaff actually had a surprisingly high turnout and was way better than Phoenix IMO. I went with our LGBT group from work and helped staff our bank's booth at the festival. And met Jody Watley. :)

Manhattan Pride hasn't been the same for me since we disbanded the Marching Xenas a few years ago. We had loads of fun, doing the Xena yell until we were all hoarse and having people yell back. :D There are pics from our last hurrah back in '01 at this link: http://www.smoe.org/meth/gallery/script.cgi?page=5&options=D&options=T&options=U

22. Detroit's was last weekend and we attended
It was overcast and muggy as hell, but the rain held off.

It was much bigger this year and had a great turnout. Always fun to go and see people you haven't seen in awhile.

No parade in Detroit, though. The universe might implode.
