When I heard the news
About the fucking Obama administration's position on ending DOMA, I had planned to point out a bunch of primary season's posts with a big old glittery TOLD YA SO! but then like a bucket of cold water, it hit me, exactly, what this does to my life... to people in my community's lives.

It's DISGRACEFUL - and this entire administration is a fucking sham. Change my ass. Hey, but he's better than Bush!

So instead of doing a smug dance and posting TOLD YA SO in sparkly glitter, I'm utterly speechless and maybe near tears. I posted in the primary season about my experience with Obama at a fundraiser for Whitehouse (before Obama decided he wanted to be president) and from that experience, I took away that Obama is very uncomfortable around us queers. I'm gender noncomforming and do nothing to hide who I am. At the worst, he really doesn't like us, and at best, he's extremely uncomfortable around us.

I fucking KNEW better and yet, I wanted to give him a chance. I wanted to believe - and for an old cynic like me, that really does mean something. BUt what did we get? Just more dirt kicked in our eyes. Thanks Mr. Change!

2. Back in the primaries I supported Kucinich
because I had the distinct feeling that Obama was offering only double-speak with regards to the LGBT community, and Kucinich was right out front with equality. I recall vividly being told by DUers supporting Obama "Don't worry, he's only holding his fire in order to get elected"....yadda yadda yadda. Now these same DUers are of course making other excuses, but I find I was pretty much right all along. I think Obama is of the mindset of "who else are they going to vote for" with respect to the LGBT community. Pure politics, no compassion.

4. I was a pretty vociferous defender of Obama throughout the primaries.
I was a pretty vociferous defender of Obama throughout the primaries. I rationalized and had an excuse for everything that pissed the GLBT community off. I thought I was vindicated when I heard Obama clearly stating that DOMA and DADT were history when he'd be elected.

I am such a goddamn fool.

5. "Hey, but he's better than Bush!"
On this? How so? Right now I have a feeling even Cheney would be more liberal on this issue than Obama.

10. What the Frack does that have do do with anything?
Those are the choices?

Vote for Obama or vote for Palin (at some point in the future). There are no alternatives, whatsoever? NONE?

Not even staying HOME and NOT VOTING?

11. How is not voting much different than voting Palin?
