Mormons Become Victims in $50 Million Scam to Sell Gold Bullion
Edited on Tue Sep-01-09 02:43 PM by La Lioness Priyanka
By James Sterngold

Sept. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Henry Jones delivered the good news in a conference call with Tri Energy Inc.’s investors: The gold deal the company had been working on for years was about to pay off.

Jones, 55, a record producer in Marina del Rey, California, and his two partners had raised more than $50 million from 735 investors, which they said they were using to broker the sale to Arab buyers of 20,000 tons of gold owned by a group of Israelis. They promised to triple investors’ money -- if only Tri Energy could overcome some last-minute glitches.

All the company needed to close the deal, Jones said on the Dec. 20, 2004, conference call, taped by one of the participants, was a “safe-passage letter” that would cost $450,000. A few days later, on another call, he said Tri Energy had to come up with $100,000 to open a “commission account.” Then, on Jan. 15, 2005, a new request: The bank handling the deal wanted $125,000 to conduct an audit.

Why do i post this in GLBT? Well, next time a GLBT issue comes up for a vote, they have 50 million less in their community now, to spend on destroying our civil rights.

14. Good. serves them right. A decent church that followed the teachings
of Jesus and the Messianic movement wouldn't have 50 million laying around because it would have been spent on the poor. May I add my little BWAHAHAHA here?

RV, pestered by Mormon missionaries for three years.

2. Coincidence?
I just heard from a banker in Nigeria - he's a member of the royal family there - and I have not quite fifty million waiting for me there, but close to it.

There are just a few things I need to send the banker before I can get my money.

Maybe I'll just forward it to the Mormons.

That would be the good, holy thing to do, right?

11. I'm always glad to hear of them losing money
But 50 million is a drop in the bucket for a church that has in excess of 30 billion. And that's just for the church itself. Who knows what the total is when you factor in all the Morg, who will gladly fork over hundreds, if not thousands (or tens of thousands) of dollars when the order comes from High Command. I'd provide links but unfortunately we're having server problems right now. :-(

Every weeknight they have a "Pageant" of the mormon that plays over a loud speaker. You can hear it across the Mississippi. I'ts so loud it's like they are holding a temple service in your living room.

Their are alot of newspaper articles and blogs telling about the mormons going into Iowa and fighting to pass a constitutional amendment against same sex marriage. There are signs posted along a highway in Iowa telling the mormons to go back to Utah. They say something like "we kicked you out once we can do it again."

18. delectatio morosa
Or maybe Roman Holiday would be more appropriate. They got off on repealing our civil rights. Taking note of the fact that they have 50 million less to continue the "Roman Holiday" is not about taking pleasure in their misfortune, it's about the irony that these oppressors have disarmed themselves by their own GREED.

22. and goes right back up your ass
we don't have to tolerate these people - not even remotely. I don't care if someone is "mormon" or the Son of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but if people are getting involved in our lives BECAUSE they're mormon then I care very much.

As a rule we don't have to recognize the exceptions - if the rule is that they are intolerant of us. So certainly the more financial loss, pain, and inconvenience that heads their way the better.
