In honor of Muserider and TXwhitedove tell us about a straight person who helped you through |

a tough time you had due to being gay. For me it was Mike, who stayed up with me all night when I fell apart over my secret coming out.
On edit This isn't honor in the sense that they are gone or ill but to recognize them as the great friends of gays that they are.

He was the first straight non-family member I came out to. He took it so well and immediately assured me that our friendship would not change at all. I was flabbergasted months later when he told me that he used to be homophobic, but, while he was in college, he lived on a dorm room with a guy who came out...not a guy he knew well, just someone he'd nod hello to. He watched this guys friends all completely abandon him and shun him from then on. That's when he realized how stupid homophobia is: that nothing about this guy had changed, and yet his friends completely abandoned him over something so innocuous. He's been cool with gay people ever since.
He gives me hope that most straight people can be taught to overcome their irrational bigotry.
