New York governor Paterson pushing to bring the marriage equality bill up in special session.
Edited on Wed Oct-21-09 04:42 PM by TheWraith
For the special session next week, Governor Paterson is expected to push the State Senate to vote on the still pending marriage equality bill. He can't actually force them to vote on it, but apparently he's still going to bring it up. I know a guy who works for the State Senate who assures me that if it's voted on, it will pass, at least in his estimation. Can't swear to that myself, I just don't see how the math works. We've got too many Republicans and too many crappy Democrats.

3. DC DEMS want Paterson dumped.
"Incompetent"... "not popular"... "won't win"... "in over his head"... yada yada yada.

However... it appears that he understands GLBT issues better than the WH crew ever will.

Also has chutzpah. That must be galling. Obama's afraid of his shadow's shadow.

4. I feel badly for Paterson, but it's completely true that he's unpopular and won't win.
He's got an 18% approval rating and no way to recover from it. He's a good guy, but that's not enough in some situations.

5. I admire and respect Gov Paterson
It's truly offensive that he's being treated so poorly by the WH.

6. GO PATERSON! GO NEW YORK!
Though I don't have a New Yorker's perspective on Paterson's administration, I do think highly of his gutsy approach to gay rights. He is, by and far, one of the best governors a gay person could ask for. Enacting equal marriage in New York would have a huge effect, and this is our best chance for several years to come, so I'm rooting for him and for New York.
