Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro has ended weeks of speculation and announced her candidacy for the US Senate - pitting her against the most powerful woman in New York State and the nation: Hillary Clinton.

It is a race that promises to be one of the most expensive and nastiest in recent history.

But, while both candidates mark out their turf, they share unusually common ground on LGBT issues.
