Obama's choice of words (Hate Crimes Bill) |
|
Okay, so no one has been more critical than I have regarding Obama's lack of focus on GLBT issues. But during his comments on the signing of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Hate Crimes legislation, he kept coming back to the same statement:
"...people will be protected from violence based on "what they look like, who they love, how they pray or why they are." And at one point I believe he changed the word "protected" with the word "discriminated."
I don't know if I am reading more into this than I should, but could this be how he intends to frame ENDA, DADT, and DOMA action? The argument holds the same for all of these.
