Brian Burke's son dies in car crash in Indiana
Brendan Burke, the youngest son of Toronto Maple Leafs President and General Manager Brian Burke, died Friday after a traffic accident in Indiana.

"We are saddened to report that Brendan Burke, the youngest son of Leafs President and General Manager Brian Burke, succumbed to injuries he suffered in an auto accident earlier today in Indiana," the Leafs said in a statement. "The family asks for privacy at this difficult time."

Richard Peddie, president and chief executive officer of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, issued the following statement:

"On behalf of the entire Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Brian Burke. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Burke family during this extremely difficult time."

Some of you may be wondering why I'm posting this news in this forum. This story will explain. We lost a great young man last night. :(

But on this night in 2007, you are petrified of your dad. Because you, Brendan Burke, at 19 years old, are about to tell your dad, Mr. Testosterone, that you are gay.

'We love you, this won't change a thing'

1. I wish I never told my parents
Edited on Sat Feb-06-10 01:47 PM by Roon
My Mother got so angry when I told her that. I thought the unconditional love was gone and went on a drug, sex spree for a year.

I am not blaming my Mother for contracting aids, just wish I could have stayed in the closet..I was young, thin, and stupid.

3. I saw the story at joe.my.god. last night.
What a tragic waste of a bright young life, so full of promise. At least his father got to know who he really was.
