I don't understand the Republican opposition to repeal of DADT... |
|
If we look at this logically then it's obvious that they should be leading the march toward repeal.
A) They'd have more boys and girls to fight in their senseless wars.
B) It would be gays and lesbians and, obviously, no one would care since it keeps their sons and daughters safe.
It's like a Republican wet dream. They should be salivating at the possibilities.

2. I'm not sure I like the "cannon fodder" nature of the argument |
|
However, I would think after 9/11 and launching a potentially never-ending "war on terror" that having gays and lesbians able to serve openly in the military wouldn't be that important of an issue for anybody- let alone even a consideration.
It should also be pointed out that the British- one of the most significant members in the so-called "coalition of the willing" in Iraq :eyes: allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in their military and they served with, bathed, with, and fought with our own troops without any apparent difficulties. Kind of blows a huge-a** hole through the "unit cohesion", "ick", and "dangerous gays and lesbians" arguments advanced by Republicans/right-wingers. Frankly, anybody who spends THAT much time thinking/worrying about the sexual orientation of their fellow soldiers is obviously too distracted to serve in the military anyway IMHO.

3. Beacuse they think that our wars are noble and gays are not for starters. |
|
They think that "the gay" catches really easily. Can't have our boys and girls exposed to that!!!
When most republicans picture gays and lesbians they picture Richard Simmons and Beefy Man-Hating Lesbians not Lt. Dan Choi and my friend N*. Those kinds of folks are not "REAL AMERICAN HEROES"! (Although I do suspect Duke from GI Joe looked like he and Roadblock had something on the down-low behind Scarlet's back if you catch my drift.)
Republicans also like Leviticus. Really to a creepy level.
