Vatican Considering Barring Gay-Friendly Politicians From Sacrament
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/10/100205rcPoli.htm

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero who legalized same-sex marriage in their countries, and about a dozen American politicians who support gay marriage - including San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom who issued marriage licenses last year to same-sex couples - could be refused the sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church under a proposal being considered by the Vatican.

Catholic bishops meeting in Vatican City at the first synod led by newly anointed Pope Benedict XVI are expected to consider refusing communion to politicians who pass laws that violate church doctrine.

8. big time.
And if you consider that the per capita incidence in the US was lower than in Ireland, Poland, Germany, Russia, and Africa, you get just a hint of how bad the child abuse scandal was.

2. Whatever...
Once the Catholic Church named a former Nazi and an enabler of child abuse as Pope, I don't think any rational person takes them seriously.

4. I think it is getting close to the time where we ban the Catholic Church..
...for covering up and enabling child-molesters for DECADES...

What was it Christ said? "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Too bad the church doesn't read what is in that book they always talk about....

5. Bring it on
Can the laity stop rituals peformed by priests who have violated secular laws?

I'm sure Gavin Newsome and Paul Martin will be able to get some communion on the black makret. :p

9. What Is WRONG With Them? Why Are They Such HATEFUL BIGOTS?
If I live to be a hundred years old, I'll never understand why DEMOCRATS continue to support the Catholic church. Astounding.

10. Former Nazi John Ratzinger, head of the Vatican State, is risking
his organization's tax exempt status. My personal opinion: the Roman Catholic Church should have lost its tax-exempt status a long, long time ago.

11. How dare they abuse Christ like that
Denying communion is an act of tremendous spiritual violence. It is in effect declaring someone unfit to be part of the Body of Christ, which is beyond the role of anyone on this planet. The only requirement Jesus Christ put on Communion was "do this in remembrance of me" There was nothing about following the dogma of some religion that might follow at some later date. Communion is about Christ, nothing else.

I am not Catholic, and their idea that any person can determine who is fit or not fit to take communion is one of many detestable things about the Roman Catholic Church.

12. Ann Landers had the best idea
Church, she said, was supposed to be a hospital for sinners, rather than a mausoleum for the good.

Of course, I can't understand anyone supporting an institution whose main tenets are sin, guilt and punishment. I would have thought that those "family values" would have perished a long time ago from lack of support.

Let them have all the crackdowns they want - it will bankrupt them financially all the quicker (I consider them already bankrupt morally).
