Backers Of Those 'Marriage' Amendments Are Showing Their Real Agenda
Lawmaker works to prevent gay partner benefits

A state representative said Monday he's working on a measure to oppose health benefits for gay partners of state employees in new contracts that have been agreed to by the state and five labor unions.

Rep. Ken Bradstreet, R-Gaylord, also said he will ask Attorney General Mike Cox whether it's legal for the state to offer same-sex domestic partner benefits after Michigan voters approved a constitutional amendment limiting marriage to one man and one woman.

His motion would urge Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm and the Office of the State Employer to refrain from negotiating or approving any state contract with domestic partner health care benefits for same-sex couples.

Those bigoted hate amendments were only about marriage, they claimed.
Like hell they were!

This shows it was all about bigotry. PERIOD.

1. Hate the sin ...
Love the sinner, hope the sinner gets sick and can't get health care.

I guess they are worried now about the sanctity of medicine?

2. Rev. Fred Phelps says God Hates Mr. Rogers
A group of about a half dozen members of an anti-gay organization gathered at the intersection of Penn Avenue and Sixth Street to protest what they called Rogers' failure to condemn homosexuality. The group, which included an 8-year-old girl, held signs expressing their hatred of gays and, while standing on a torn American flag, their hatred of America.

They were met by about 150 counter-demonstrators, members of gay rights and peace groups, who marched along the sidewalks and sang songs from Rogers' program while holding signs calling for love and tolerance. While there were some heated exchanges, there were no arrests either there or at three other sites -- the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the University of Pittsburgh and Chatham College.

The anti-gay group, members of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas, has a history of picketing at funerals of gays and those they accuse of being supportive of gays. It is led by Fred Phelps, a self-proclaimed minister and disbarred attorney. He was not present at the demonstration yesterday.

4. Anyone who believed...
...this move to ban recognition of same sex marriages was just about marriages are totally living in dream land.

The FMA is the repugs move to see if they will be able to get the constitution amended with their hate. If they get that, then they will move onto the removal of other freedoms. The LGBTI community isn't the only one in danger.

But now they are beginning to make advancements regarding the war on the queer community, they won't stop at just marriage. Every right a queer citizen of the U.S. currently has, will be gone by the end of the boy kings rein.

They do not like us, and they intend to make sure we are lower than second class in "their" country.

And NBC and CBS banned a UCC commercial from their networks because they thought it was too controversial and were afraid airing it would offend the rotten King George.

So what the f--- are we supposed to do? Wait for them to round us up into deathcamps???

6. I think most gays in Michigan knew what this was about, but..
the media repeated over and over again the lies and distortions of the proponents of the amendment.

The people pushing the amendment outright LIED...repeatedly claiming it was only about marriage and wouldn't take existing partnership rights away.

This article points out some of the lies:

Proponents of Proposal 2, in public statements throughout the campaign, emphatically stated that this amendment was simply about marriage.

Marlene Elwell, chair of Citizens for Protection of Marriage, was quoted as stating, "This has nothing to do with taking benefits away. This is about marriage between a man and a woman."

Spokesperson Kristina Hemphill said, "There's nothing in this amendment ... that will erase anything on the books."

A day after the election these lying bigots started doing just that--looking for ways to take existing rights away.

But the straight public was lied to. I doubt they would have voted for the amendment had they known the real implications of it.

Gay book ban goal of state lawmaker

Wednesday, December 01, 2004
KIM CHANDLER News staff writer

MONTGOMERY - An Alabama lawmaker who sought to ban gay marriages now wants to ban novels with gay characters from public libraries, including university libraries.

A bill by Rep. Gerald Allen, R-Cottondale, would prohibit the use of public funds for "the purchase of textbooks or library materials that recognize or promote homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle." Allen said he filed the bill to protect children from the "homosexual agenda."
