1. I'm too busy catching up on Weeds

but it's in my queue too. Interested in hearing the reviews here. Btw, anyone see "I Like Killing Flies"? Talk about
grossing you out.

3. It's a documentary
Edited on Wed Apr-13-11 05:43 PM by catgirl
I found it to be kind of depressing and the owner of the restaurant to be abusive. It is interesting though. I certainly wouldn't
eat there. Btw, it has nothing to do with GLBT...

14. It was an aside

I noticed after I posted about the documentary that your post was in the GLBT forum. I didn't want you to think it was related in that way.
Most of my friends are gay, so I don't have a separation between people, interests... My hometown was Buffalo, N.Y. The most gay friendly
town in the U.S., as far as I'm concerned. Everybody mingles. :-)

4. It's weird and fun because Jim Carrey can't help it.
The story just seems too bizarre to be based on fact but life is stranger than fiction. Ewan McGregor put in a solid, believable performance.

9. I liked it but understand why critics said too much flux between believable and camp -
Both actors were really believable but then you'd be thinking they were overacting but you keep watching because THIS THING IS BASED ON A TRUE STORY and it's weirdly fun.

See?

Hard to say.

6. I LOVED THAT MOVIE! Maybe you shouldn't watch it...
Because when you do, you'll be fucking pissed how it was completely snubbed at the Oscars.

11. Its a great movie...
but the reason why it was snubbed because it was filmed and shopped around almost two years ago. It sat on the shelf because no one wanted to show it because of how it shows gay men. So it was ineligible for Oscars. Now,however, since people are more tolerate they released it on DVD. It is definitely a must watch.

16. It was not eligible?
I had not realized that - I thought it was released in theatres when it was *because* of the Oscar nominations.

I really wanted it to be Jim Carrey's well-deserved for previous work Oscar, or at least Oscar nomination. Having seen it, I thought he didn't get nominated for good reason, not because it was not eligible. But I blame the director. Carrey was mostly great, but every once in a while there was too much Jim Carrey schtick rather than the character. The director should have made him knock that off. Just my opinion.

Ewan McGregor was the most adorable thing I ever saw in my life. I was mad he didn't get a nomination - glad to hear it was because he was not eligible rather than because the Academy is full of idiots. The first thing a search on him turned up was pictures - he doesn't even look like the same person! I don't think I've seen another movie of his - now I must go out and watch them all!

15. The Oscars "judges" tend to do that

I don't pay attention to the Oscars. Perhaps at one time they were respectable, but not now.
