So I went to the Phoenix LGBT Gay Pride Festival last weekend.
It was a really wonderful event, lots of love and beauty, color and smiles. I did not see or hear about a single incident of hostility or violence.

I estimate that between ten and twenty thousand people attended.

So I searched for reports on the event on Google News yesterday morning and this morning. Nothing there, really, from the main Phoenix newspaper, the Arizona Republic, or anywhere else for that matter.

Is it unreasonable for me to expect that the local paper would report on an event that was attended by such a large number of people?

If ten to twenty thousand teabaggers showed up for a rally in central Phoenix, would the newspaper have reported it?

What's up with this? Is this possibly a case of journalistic prejudice, or am I being overly sensitive?

2. You nailed it: Journalistic Discrimination

It isn't just this group, it's pretty much across the board for those of us residing where the "Sun Does Shine"...Remember the media is monopolized by the likes of murdoch...."No free publicity, atta boys/girls or truth, peace and liberty", unless the group is related to anti-Obama/christ/cons/tp's etc.
They sure wouldn't want Anyone to see the acceptance or have to report about peace and happiness.
Just saying.

3. That sucks. If 250 teabaggers show up to protest, the media reports it.

6. Media consolidation = Censorship. They don't call it that...
... but that's what it is. Homophobia plays a part in the above. But there's also a more generalized RW agenda, esp *corporate* agenda at work.

Don't look for commercial $$ media outlets to report actual news.

It's our own fault; we (DEMS) were asleep in the 90's when Clinton and Co. were giving away the store.

But we still have the net. For *now*.

7. exactly. it is no longer the media's business to report what is actually going on.
their business is not to educate the body politic but to sell a social reality construct based predominantly around consumption.
