Superbowl champ David Tyree's new drive -- fighting "anarchy'' of gay marriage (Video)
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 03:40 PM by Duncan Grant
Anarchy? I wonder if he knows what that word means.

Superbowl champ David Tyree, former New York Giants receiver, is taking on a new drive this week -- against same sex marriage, which he says represents "anarchy" for the country.

Tyree, who made that fab catch in the final moments of Super Bowl XLII that spearheaded the Giants victory, has released a video the same day the New York legislature approved a same sex marriage bill, saying such a move dooms the country.

Tyree said the bill's passage would mark "the beginning of our country sliding toward ... anarchy.'' He argued the matter is being pushed by lawmakers because "an influential minority has..an agenda."

Tyree made the remarks in a video released Wednesday by the National Organization for Marriage, a conservative organization opposing same sex marriage.

Here it is...

2. He can catch a ball and run with it.
That makes him an expert on social science just how exactly?

Granted he does the ball and running thing like an artist, but I fail to see where his CV gets him anywhere near having an opinion worth being in the news on this matter.

4. I do not hold against him that he uses his celebrity status in non-related fields
Any more than I would nay-say the athletes, actors, and musicians who speak up for us.

However, I'm just human enough to say that I hope there's a late hit in his future that ends his career. Karma, dontchaknow?

3. Anyone know if the NFL has to give them permission to use that footage?
I'm definitely sending a letter to the NFL if they gave permission to that group to use their footage.

7. yeah, that cannot be alright that they used that Super Bowl footage to promote their anti-Gay hate.
someone involved with any of the Civil Rights groups needs to ask the NFL about that... good point.

6. crazy to see anyone who's civil rights had been fought over, show such focus at trying to

keep others from having equal rights, too.

also, he worked on Sundays, doesn't that make him a bad guy in the fundamentalist's eyes? So, just let the moron's words roll off! He has many problems, like they all do, that he has to answer for, involving old testament law that he chooses to ignore, so he is to be treated like the mumbling fool for going so hard against Gay people.

Also, don't think this guy is super wealthy or such, he was a bit player in about 5 seasons in the NFL and has maybe 50 catches lifetime (star players have 100+ a season). The reason he's known at all is because one of the catches was a desperation type throw from Eli Manning that he was fortunate enough to have thrown his way in a Super Bowl game. That's his claim to fame, not for being a superstar receiver or such, as most casual NFL fans didn't know him before the catch, and now several years after it, most don't know him now.

But, watch out - there will be ANARCHY if the Gays marry!

8. He and his now- wife had two children out of wedlock, back when he was a drunk and crack addict.
I hardly think he is the one to be dispensing moral advice.
