New Zealand Moves To Legalize Gay Unions
http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/12/120204nzPartner.htm

any hot Kiwis on here that wanna hook up? :bounce:

New Zealand is set to enact legislation giving same-sex couples all of the rights of marriage except the name.

The Civil Union Bill Thursday passed all important second reading in Parliament. It now requires a final vote before becoming law.

The vote is expected to be close, but most observers believe it will squeak through despite fierce opposition by the Catholic Church.

1. lol
With the passing of the Civil Partnerships Bill in Great Britain, the USA joins only Italy as the sole G7 countries that don't provide for recognition of their gay citizens.

Even Taiwan, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and South Korea provide legal recognition for same-sex couples now.

Even IRELAND is moving ahead with a civil partners bill and this is a country that JUST legalized divorce!

2. That's what we get
in a theocracy. But this is worse than theocracy. This is a bunch of bigots and hypocrites putting their biases and fears into law, and stamping God's name on it.

3. not all of the catholics there oppose civil unions

<snip>

“The Bishops seem to have completely missed the point that the Civil Union Bill is not introducing gay marriage, but rather a completely different alternative form of relationship recognition,” said spokesperson Rev Dr Margaret Mayman. “If the legislation’s intent was gay marriage, then that would have been simply achieved by an amendment to the Marriage Act.”

Christians for Civil Unions has some members who support Civil Union precisely because it is not gay marriage, but rather keeps the traditional and religious aspects of marriage unchanged. Marriage has an intrinsic value that cannot be altered by civil unions..

</snip>

it's comforting to know that at least in other countries people can think for themselves and not just follow what their church tells them...

4. Their arrogance STILL makes me want to vomit. . .
. . . "preserving" marriage by keeping the filthy homos out and giving them something less.
