Canadian Leader Accuses Opposition Of Political Cowardice Over Gay Marriag

Prime Minister Paul Martin slammed Conservative leader Stephen Harper over the gay marriage issue Thursday, accusing his rival of political cowardice.

``This is a lack of courage and a clear lack of leadership,'' Martin said after a cabinet meeting Thursday.

He noted that the Conservative leader is vowing to change the law in the six provinces where same-sex marriage is now legal - ``yet he refuses to say that he would utilize the notwithstanding clause, which is the only vehicle open to him.''

Luckily people saw through his hatred at the last minute and voted strategically to make sure he didn't end up Prime Minister...
