Schwarzenegger To GOP: Loosen Up On Gays
http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/12/121904arnie.htm

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger suggested in a German newspaper interview published Saturday that the Republican Party should move "a little to the left," a shift that he said would allow it to pick up new voters.

Schwarzenegger, a Republican, has taken an unorthodox approach since winning office last year -- standing by a promise to toe a conservative line of fiscal matters while veering left on social issues such as gay rights and the environment.

In an interview with Germany's Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily, Schwarzenegger said that "the Republican Party currently covers only the spectrum from the right wing to the middle, and the Democratic Party covers the spectrum from the left to the middle."

oh my gosh--Ahnuld making sense

okay, I'm truly scared

What a comfort.

5. A LITTLE to the left?
Frankly, that's pretty insulting to voters.

To say that by merely changing their public faces to GLBs will make the rest of their agenda palatable is absurd.

But, I thought * winning another term was absurd, too.

6. Me, too.
And Phyllis Schlafly and I agreed that the No Child Left Undrugged Act (amendment tacked onto spending bill mandating mental health screenings for each child in public school - so that we put them all on either Ritalin or antidepressants) - was a bad idea. So, sometimes it feels that Hell has frozen over.

I hope that Arnold protects domestic partnership right/benefits in Kali-fooorn-ya, and tells Assemblyman Haynes to take a hike with respect to the ugly, hateful constitutional amendment he's planning to sponsor (precluding not only same-sex marriage, but domestic-partnership-benefits/civil-unions as well). We will fight that tooth and nail.

My California is a Blue State - and people are socially progressive here. And it is going to remain that way!!!

"Mentally unfit" to go through life without drugs.

9. Bye bye amendment
Now let's sit back and watch the already luke-warm support for a constitutional amendment (to permit naturalised U.S. citizens to become president) disolve into thin-air.

Watching the FReepers (as I do) on the 'Governator' has been amusing, they started out hating, then they realised he was the only Repub who could win the recall, so they pinched their noses and voted, then he started his 'rah rah Bush' stuff and they went wild (almost as popular as Zell Miller), then rumours about him becoming president started they cooled off quite a bit.

Even admitting to knowing a gay person (unless you're Dick Cheney) is a hanging offence at F.R. so this is bound to cause ructions.

10. Welcome to my world.
I spent most of the election year agreeing with Pat Buchanan on Iraq.

Of course, now that Gee Dub got his man-date, Pat's back to being his old psychotic self, and I can go back to comfortably despising him.
