Gay club won’t file formal complaint
The gay-straight student alliance at Grays Harbor College will not file a formal complaint against a student senator who believes being gay is “bad behavior.”

But Jeremy Vaughn, president of the club, is still asking for an apology from Amanda Plumb for comparing his group to a “pedophile club” during a student senate meeting.

Plumb told The Daily World Wednesday she hasn’t spoken to Vaughn. She said she has retained legal counsel and must be “cautious about what I say or don’t say.” Plumb declined to identify her lawyer but said he’s a member of her church and is offering his advice free of charge.

The county Republicans, meantime, are going to give her a “warm welcome” at their meeting tonight.

Two things jump out at me from this story:

1. She said ... she must be “cautious about what I say or don’t say.” ... Don't ya think the time to be cautious about what you say was BEFORE you compared gays to pedophiles, you ignorant, bigoted Repugna-bitch?

2. The county Republicans, meantime, are going to give her a “warm welcome” at their meeting tonight. ... Well, d'uh! Why am I not surprised?

1. Of course the rethugs welcome her
she is perpetuating the lie that all homosexuals are pedophiles. Frankly, I'm sick of this misinformation. But I think this lie is one of the reasons behind the fear of gay marriage and gay rights.

3. I wonder how a "Marry gays off to protect the children" bumpersticker
campaign would work.

Can't have us all roaming the streets single, ya know?

2. i keep saying -- and every time i read articles -- it reaffirms
my belief that this is a real war.

if repukes could use violence -- and they do on an individual basis{i.e. society uses random acts violence to control this or that minority} -- in the open to get at gay people they would.

4. Then seek refuge with those who see you as human beings
whose sexual orientation is no one's business but your own. If there is a Dances of Universal Peace circle near your home, you may wish to check it out. All are welcome, and I have learned wisdom and understanding from my homosexual brothers and sisters who join with me in doing the Dances.

8. I wasn't able to get the email
at the college site: http://ghc.ctc.edu/

For some reason the dropdown menu for student clubs brings up a corrupted page. hmmmm

Anyhooo... after reading some other articles about this it looks as if he has chosen to let public ridicule take care of the situation. Apparently this student "senator" is being laughed out of town.

I would still be interested in knowing more about his decision though.

10. I really do think this was a set-up
She would have no reason for counsel if this wasn't planned out ahead of time. The gay student group could question her church, however. . .in fact, Jeremy could certainly make a statement claiming that Sen. Plumb is only a christian in her own mind - and that her church is nothing but a political hate organization and she is merely a whore for the cause.

Then let HER head spin at his right to exercise free speech.

9. This was a deliberate set up. . .
This really looks to me like she was trying to bait the gay organization into filing a complaint so she could file a lawsuit against the university. It looks way too obvious.

However, I think the gay club should have a thing or two to say about Ms. Plumb - like perhaps pointing out that Republican women who go to college just to snag a husband really have no place making remarks about their perceptions of the behaviors of others. And then suggest that there are thousands of people who can't afford to attend college. . .

Of course, we could be worse - the college gay club could respond to that Ms. Plumb is trying to turn student government into a whoring organization for the Republican Party, and that her moral viewpoint is based on self-serving greed rather than any concern for the perceived sins of others.
