Poll question: Is it weird to want to have kids?
This may sound like a weird question in turn but I have my reasons.

I do want kids and am trying to get my financial situation stable so I can be a good parent. And I have heard of gay people who say they always wanted kids.

But somehow I have never meant any. None of my gay friends of ex's have ever wanted kids. I have had dates dump me because I said I wanted to have kids someday. And I guess i always thought that being in St. Louis, I would have an easier time finding other gay men interested in kids. But somehow I am feeling quite the odd ball on this.

So I was wondering if gay men wanting kids is rare i or if somehow I missed them all.

4. My God, what a fabulous photo!
It reminds me of the wonder and curiosity we see in the eyes of babies every day.

Having children is wonderful for some people, and it's a nightmare for others.

So choose wisely, because once they're here, there's no sending them back.

10. You know I read this on the "latest" page...

...and almost didn't notice which DU group it was in as I was considering posting an essay on the premature-midlife-crisis "must have kids straight out of college" mentality among the general population. Boy would that have been embarrassing. :-)

11. I'm straight, but I have a teriffic son and I'd wish you the experience.
If you want kids, that's great. It's an incredible experience for those who want it and I wish you all of the happiness (and headaches) that come with being a parent.

12. Genetic imperative
Even the many people I know who don't want their own children have something in their lives that they cherish and nurture as if it was a child. Maybe it is a dog or cat, maybe it is their nieces and nephews.

I'm not particularly interested in having children of my own and I doubt I would ever adopt. But I try to be an involved uncle, and I wouldn't mind being a foster parent.

13. Though I do sometimes regret my years of being married
I cherish my son like nothing else. I can't imagine not having him in my life. I've been fortunate enough to meet several men who went down the same road, so I've had a little guidance.
