Hate crimes reported in Florida dropped except for those perpetrated against gays and lesbians during 2003, according to a report released Monday by Attorney General Charlie Crist.

The report shows that race is decreasingly a motivating factor in hate crimes while sexual orientation and ethnicity account for a higher percentage of such crimes.

Overall, 275 hate crimes were reported, down from 306 in 2002. Of those, 135 were race motivated, or about 49 percent. That compares to 55 crimes motivated by the victim's sexual orientation, 51 motivated by ethnicity and 34 motivated by religion.

3. Because It's A-Okay To Hate Gays Again...

Everyone from Bush* to Falwell to Robertson to Phelps to Reggie White have been spreading word that homos are evil, sub-human, and a danger to society. It's little wonder that our basic rights are being erroded and bigotry is being written into LAW.

So if someone is attacked, should they fight back? Would that make them guilty of not being tolerant of the attacker's religion? :eyes:
