I thought then that those posters were deeply homophobic and the fact that THIS thread has received no such comments merely confirms my earlier obversations.

...although I don't think Fitz is gay, myself. But I do recall the contorted "OF COURSE NOT! (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)" type of responses. In this case, I don't think the opposite is true--I just think that Ralph Reed is pretty obvious, when you stop and think about it. I just hadn't stopped to think of it before, because I place him more in the Evil Goblin category. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ralphie, however has always struck me as someone living a lie, hiding behind the wife, kids and God the same way I did all those years.

I don't see anything homophobic about it. I'm certainly going to assess any guy I was attracted to before asking them out on a date - keeps your chances of getting rejected (or your ass beat) much lower.
I don't ever recall doing the same assessment when I was playing str8 and dating women, just assumed they were all str8 too. Gaydar has become second nature.
