I went to the Gay Pride parade in Denver this morning. I've posted some photos in the photography group if you'd like to see them. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=280x16783

I guess all the larger cities had theirs today. Atlanta, NY, San Francisco, and Denver that I know of. My area, Raleigh/Durham has its parade in October.

for the pictures - they came out great. ;) North Colorado here. Wished we could've been there. Esp. glad to hear that churches got involved to show support!
Wished we could've sent some of our cloudier weather over for you for the parade...we finally got a break in the tropical weather for part of the day at least. LOL

5. In the afternoon it did cloud up |
|
I went to the Avon Walk for the Cure in the afternoon to take some shots there, too (they are also posted in the Photography group). You can tell that it was more overcast and not as bright out, and the photos came out better at the Avon Walk because of it. But the Gay Pride Parade was definitely a lot more fun to shoot!

and sunny one pride march we went to, I thought I was going to get heat stroke. LOL But we had a great time tho. and it was worth it. You mentioned there a lot of politicians there - now I really wished we could've gone. Except I'm betting that dear ole Musgrave was no where to be found...unless she was hiding behind a tree. :)
You have a good eye for the camera - hope you do more with it. Sorry, btw, on the loss of your pets. We lost our oldest cat recently to old age. She out lived the vet's expectation for her. But if she were human, she'd remind me of Betty Davis...with her own ideas on things. Thanks for sharing the photos of your pets. They were/are adorable.

6. Those are the Denver Dykes on Bikes |
|
There were about 100 of them in the parade as a group. They were the first to start off the parade and they definitely made an entrance! They had some really nice bikes, too.

Sqream..the gay scooter rider's group.
I went to their site and there appears to quite the scooter community in Denver. I am SO jealous!

Looks like you've lost pets in the last year or so also. I just lost my 21-year-old Persian kitty (yes, over 140 in human years); I'm o.k. though, because I prepared my nine-year-old daughter, my husband and myself for it. She went in her sleep (two coughs and she was gone). I have 4 cats that have gone onto Rainbow Bridge (the Great Beyond); may healing energy surround both of us.
It's been a week, and we got a new kitty to join my 3-year-old and 4-year-old kitties today! Long live the new generation!

7. Congrats on the new kitty! |

Yes, I've lost 3 pets in the last 15 months. I'm down to one now, but that's OK with me, and definitely OK with him (Sterling, the silver Persian). My housemates have two huge dogs, so I get my canine fix whenever I need it.

11. Good luck with your new furry child |
|
Persians are beautiful cats. i feel bad you lost yours. Am glad you have a new one to enjoy.
Btw, there is a very sweet Persian who we think is homeless, living outside our home that we take care of. He likes the attention and the "kitty cafe" we've put out for him. Except, he's very afraid of being touched, so we haven't been able to catch him. We're not sure if he has a home or not - he's always outside even during extreme weather and sleeps in the winter bed we set up for him. But the oddest thing is - every so often, someone will shave patches of all sizes and shapes off of him. He tends to look like a toy poodle that the groomer didn't know which end was which. LOL So we don't know what to make of it or who this phantom groomer is. But he's fed and cared for at least.

12. Well, my hubby shaves off some of the hairballs my big Persian.. |
|
male causes on himself (that cat is a TERRIBLE self-groomer). So, I will bet that you are correct about this guy ... someone is trying to take care of him.
And, this fluffy, lovey-dovey male of mine is simply the BIGGEST CHICKEN on the whole planet; he's scared of his own shadow, and won't let anyone but my daughter, my husband, and myself touch him. And, Snowey (His Royal Highness) won't let anyone groom him - or only with great fanfare and warring between the groomer and the groomee. So, that sounds like what you are experiencing. Because of his hatred of grooming (my daughter has the best success .. she kind of starts petting him with a grooming glove), sometimes my hubby gives up and just takes the hairball off with a pet-shaver. My three are strictly indoor kitties, though.
That's disturbing about him being outside in bad weather. He would probably be better off in your household by a long shot!
Thanks for the kind words.
