So does Florida have a gay governor or not? |
|
This is like a good news-bad news joke.
There is a good chance that Florida has a gay governor. The bad news is that if he's gay, he's in the closet (big time liar) and he's a Republican.

5. Yup-- and as a Gay Floridian I want every GLBT member to |
|
force him out of that hypocritical closet.
Make it our life's work over the next few days.
In a state where the GLBT community has very few, if any, rights-- it's high time for the self-loathing hypocrites to be brought to the light of day.

6. If he is, I hope he reveals it. |

I've got relatives in Florida that used to vote for Democrats but started voting republican because "the democrats will give us gay marriage". I would love to see the expression on their faces when they find out about their governor.

7. Who exactly are these phantom Democrats who will "give us gay |
|
marriage?"
Maybe you can ask your relatives who they fear will give them gay marriage.
I can't think of any Democrat off hand who is pushing for it. Can you?

8. I dont know of any. i think right now a lot of the Democrats are |
|
afraid they'll get booted out of office if they show any support for gay marriage. I just want to prove to my evangelical relatives in Florida their hypocrisy of it all.

9. I don't believe that there are enough evangelicals to pass these laws |
|
Moreover, we see some disheartening numbers where a Dem candidate gets 70% of the vote and so does an anti-gay measure.
I think that one of our targets has to be the media. Part of the reason these measures succeed is because the newsies are using the fundie terminology. "Defense of marriage", "defend marriage", "marriage protection act"... no professional newsie should ever be saying these words. The news people are supposed to maintain an image of objectivity and this is not objective language.
Locally our cable news (baynews9) which in infested with Baptists would run Michael Jackson molestation trial news right before or after gay issues. It took several rounds of accusing them of bias before they stopped doing this. They denied that they were doing it, but they stopped doing it, so mission accomplished.
Every time a news person uses biased terminology, we need to take the time to write to the news director and anyone else (always multiple people though) at the station who has an email address.

13. I really don't care about his sexuality... |
|
the biggest reason I wouldn't vote for him (other than the R next to his name on the ballot) was the fact that I was there while he was bringing Florida schools lower and lower while working under Jeb. The school systems here are already something like 48th in the US if I recall correctly. He's the one who implemented the 'grading system' for schools which not only gives teachers ANOTHER useless standardized test to teach the kids to take instead of ACTUALLY teaching them something important, but was pretty much designed entirely for the purpose of taking money AWAY from poor school and GIVING IT to the rich schools.
