There are probably some families that sit around the table trying to start WWIII over meatloaf, but I would think that most people who would vote againt the interest of their family member would avoid that conversation.

4. I don't know if they would or not. |
|
But it's their prerogative, either way. I would not intercede if they voted for a ban.

the amendment takes care of everything short of sending us to a distant penal colony.

8. if it's your family of origin - then tell them who your "family" is |
|
the one you're with. Your kids. The people who love and support you in word AND deed. The rest might as well be strangers if duty is the only binding grace.
Your kids - that's a lot harder. I suppose if you want to be a really good parent you would acknowledge they have a right to be their own person and make their own decisions, even if they are bad decisions. But you have the right to protect yourself and surround yourself with people who agree that all people are equal in this country, and that nobody else should be making decisions about how we live our lives.
So if they disagree with you, maybe it is in their best interests as well to acknowledge that you are your own person and make your own decisions, even if they are good decisions.

9. I'm going to ask a very naive question, |
|
but I just have to know. What is it with these people who vote for these amendments? I made the mistake of visting the Free Republic website after Tuesday's election and was just disgusted, I've never seen so much hate, especially at homosexuals. Its as if they're obsessed with them.

10. Bingo! They are obsessed with us. After years of hearing how they would |
|
go to hell and be cast out of society if they acted on their feelings towards the same sex, they're frustrated as all hell to see some of us living openly and honestly. It kills them.
I have a number of straight friends - none of whom are threatened by me or those around me. They know who they are and where they are. Only people secure in their own sexuality have no problem with those who are different from them - the rest have some reason to be insecure about themselves - and they release that insecurity through vocal, and sometimes violent, expression.
Hell, most straight guys should welcome me - I'm attractive, successful, intelligent and able to talk to anyone - I'm exactly the guy they wouldn't want as competition if we were both dating women.
