Any one think schwarzenegger will change his position on gay marriage
Since he can't run for governor again do you think Arnold with change his position on gay marriage? Or do you think he wants to run for a federal seat and is afraid of the primaries? I know he is a supporter of domestic partnership but does anyone think he'll support the legislature if they send a gay marriage bill to him again?

1. Latest rumor has it that he'll try and run against Boxer
Who knows if that'll happen or not though. I don't really see him as Senate material personally.

2. I don't think he can defeat Boxer... especially now.
I really don't think he has much of a future in politics... there isn't anywhere he can go that matches his ego.

7. He's the *governor*. Of **California**, ferpetessake....
>>>I don't really see him as Senate material personally.>>>

If they can market him successfully to govern the most populous state in the union ( and one of the most *blue* , BTW) they can surely get him elected to the Senate.

Once there... he'd definitely be able to function as well as, say, Quayle, for instance.

8. Well, the impression people seem to have of him is that he's a good
executive. When I think of Senators, I just can't picture him in the roll. His entire persona is built on being a body-builder / movie action hero. Neither of those images seems particularly well suited to being Senator of California.

10. he ran against the worst candidate that I can remember
Boxer would run rings around him and bring home many of the Democrats that voted for him for governor

he would be lucky to pull 45% in a senate contest

I don't think he will change his position on gay marriage. :(

Prior to the recall of Gov. Gray Davis Arnie stated he was pro-gay marriage. Once in office, he said it wasn't an issue for him to call :eyes:, as you probably know..and then sent it into the system of CA courts/judges. In other words, the issue didn't serve him anymore.

I have high hopes that we will find a way to make gay marriage legal here in CA. in spite of that pos, sorry excuse for a governor.

6. absolutely not.
ahnuld is a republican -- albeit a secular one.

but that doesn't mean he is going to purposefully rub salt in the wounds of the religous nuts running aorund in his party.

if he DOES run against boxer -- that would be the end of his career as a repuke.

11. Nope.
I agree with the others who suggest he'll run against Barbara Boxer. So, he needs those 'phobe votes. She'll kick his saggy ass if he runs against her, though.

12. No, he'll go back to acting
I think "stand-up guy" Tom McClintock will probably challenge Boxer in 2010 (assuming he doesn't run for Governor).

Arnie will continue to state in public that he is against gay marriage but in favor of civil unions, and he'll return to the Entertainment Industry upon leaving gubernatorial office in January 2011.

13. McClintock would do worse than the lamb that the Repukes
sent up against DiFi

he's lost ever state-wide race he's run

14. McClintock is doomed
I agree: if he runs against Boxer, he's toast.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that McClintock may try for Governor instead, when 2010 becomes an open-seat race. The big question is: who will the Democrats run? If it's Garramendi or Chiang, they have a shot. If they run a dud like Lockyer or Tauscher, even a tool like McClintock might be able to slither through.
