10 Questions for Gore Vidal.

What do you think of gay marriage?

Since heterosexual marriage is such a disaster, why on earth would anybody want to imitate it?

5. I saw him on the David Suskind show when I was a kid.
Suskind asked him, 'You have an interesting accent. Almost British or a stage accent?"
(I think Suskind was backhandedly accusing him of being affected and/or nelly)

Gore Vidal, "It's a class accent, you aren't supposed to know we have one."

2. I've just finished his latest memoir, "Point to Point Navigation."
Not as hefty as its predecessor Palimpsest, but a wonderful read.

Recommended.

4. Yes. Agree wholeheartedly.
Though, reading it...I felt rather sad. I had this feeling we might not be seeing the final chapter of his memoirs. :-(

7. Although hetero marriage is pretty dysfunctional in this country,
That is no reason to not give the option to others! But I can see the humor in his statement.

8. My favorite Q & A was...
Q:Now that the Democrats have regained Congress, what would you like to see happen first?

A:Call Dick Cheney for questioning about his role in why we are fighting in a place we don't belong in. I think that would seriously discipline--to indulge in powerful language here--the other warmongers and profiteers. Just grill him under oath.

As to the Gay Marriage thing, I sincerely wish those interested in true equality, and rights for all gender configurations, could simply drop the issue of Religiously Sanctioned marriage. A Civil Union is good enough, if you really want to get married.
If all of a sudden Republicans though it was a great idea, to allow marriage for anyone, under the banner of Church and State, it would not make the gay couples more accepted in this country. Equality is not earned by certificate.

Stem Cell Research is another unfortunate political Axe that the right wing is wielding over the Electorates heads. At least that , theoretically, might some day... HELP.. someone, maybe.

9. Not imitating het's at all...
just want the same rights.

Don't want their promiscuity, infidelity, and serial monogamy. OK, a bit harsh, but that's what the radicalright claims about gay relationships.

10. Why is heterosexual marriage a disaster? Businesses won't pay people enough to live on.

It's the "What's the matter with Kansas?" syndrome.

One of the biggest causes of divorce is money.
