Hi.. Im trying to propose a new HIV/AIDS support group and would appreciate your help...

Originally I posted this in Cancer Survivors group to try to minimize personal information.. However, its a small group with small view rates so ive decided to post here to a larger audience to try to get this group started...


So if you can help me out...

and if anyone has any advice for the mission statement, etc Id be happy for the help..

I'm an HIV Health Educator and would love to help out as much as I can. I wouldn't mind a Hepatitis C group as well, since there's a high co-infection rate.

What's the process for starting a new group? Can't we just ask the mods? I don't think there needs to be a formal proposal.

3. Unless the rules have changed....

You need ten posters with "donor" stars to say they approve of the group. Then, the mission statement can be hashed out (or it can happen during the process of getting the stars). However, to be on the safe side, PM a mod and ask if the process has changed.

25. Ok, to get this started I need 10 donor members to agree to the mission statement...

Hopefully the 13 of you with donor status who agreed to support the group can agree to the mission statement.. Behind the Aegis, JackBeck, Liberal Veteran, Der Blaue Engal, Illinoisprogressive, Oldtimeralso, melnjones, Anarcho-Socialist, Phx_Dem, There-s a, Babylonsister, pecwae, and Muserider.

I borrowed the statement from Cancer Support Group..

Mission statement:
The mission of the HIV/AIDS Support Group is to share information and provide support for HIV/AIDS patients, survivors, and their families, and to engage in activism that will promote research and improve the care that HIV/AIDS patients receive.


So if you great 13 could just reply with "I agree", I can get this emailed to the Admin...Also another donor-status who agree to support this would be most appreciated...

And non-donors are welcome to support this also, but I dont beleave you can get into groups unless you donate..

And to make it easy for the Admin, just reply with "I agree".. If you have other ideas for the mission statement, then reply to my Original post please.

I hope so. I'm not HIV+ but I am HCV+ and feel I could really use this group. I don't think that there are many DUers who have been diagnosis with Hep C that it will become a group itself. I hope that this group could include HCV+ people. We have somethings in common.
