Retired Miami Heat guard Tim Hardaway doesn't throw gutless punches. The ex-NBA star has let it be known that he "hates gay people." He doesn't "like gay people and like to be around gay people.”
Well, since Tim Hardaway is just about the sexiest man alive, or so he thinks, he shouldn't be around anyone with homoerotic fantasies because a sexual assault just might be imminent! “I’m homophobic. I don’t like it. It shouldn’t be in the world or in the United States," said the stud.
What if one of Hardaway's teammates were gay? He says, “First of all, I wouldn’t want him on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would, you know, really distance myself from him because, uh, I don’t think that is right. I don’t think he should be in the locker room while we are in the locker room.”
I'm beginning to think that the locker room fetish comes from the homophobes, because they're the only ones who talk about it. Tough! Do you think gay people enjoy being in the locker room?
Taking a personal stroll down memory lane in middle school and high school gym class, I would say I had a lot of fun inside the locker room. Oh yes, I just couldn't keep my eyes off those homophobic men who called me a queer and a sissy (on a good day).
“Something has to give,” said muscle man. “If you have 12 other ballplayers in your locker room that’s upset and can’t concentrate and always worried about him in the locker room or on the court or whatever, it’s going to be hard for your teammates to win and accept him as a teammate.”
Well, if I was as equal of a son of a bitch like he is I would say A) he needs to work on his English skills, and B) Where did he get the court fantasy from? I mean, just go on Google, I'm sure there are tons of stories of gay guys flashing heterosexual men on the basketball courts.
The funniest thing about NBA Star John Amaechi's coming out experience is that he's enjoying himself. Great! He said he was tempted to laugh at Hardaway.
But, rest assured, Hardaway has apologized. Not for his views, but for making his intolerance known. “Yes, I regret it. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said I hate gay people or anything like that." Well, now everyone knows he's a bigot, so frankly, I'm glad he said it.
He then proved my point by saying he "can't stand being around that person, knowing that they sleep with somebody of the same sex," even if someone in his own family were gay! Hooray for a culture of family values!!
Every time a homophobe sings, a marriage equality poll gets its wings. The religious extremist crowd, and now it seems, the NBA crowd, are just the gifts that keep on giving. Nice work!
NBA Commissioner David Stern said that "It is inappropriate for him to be representing us given the disparity between his views and ours." Wow, what a way to strong arm!
The fact is, these people do represent the NBA, as well as the many, many others who have decided to let their hateful views be known. The NBA clearly doesn't seem to give a crap about how their organization is being represented, and if they don't do something about it, decent people should stop going to professional basketball games.
Disgusting. I'm sure there's more to come.
