GLBT people should consider Richardson for President
Of those running he has the best resume and has already stated stances on issues regarding energy, foreign policy AND has been the only one to mention GLBT rights at the DDN a few days ago. I could go with a Richardson/Kucinich ticket easily. In New Mexico he and Lt. Gov. Denish have given effective support to the GLBT community and New Mexico is having an influx given the openess and that progress is being made towards GLBT rights along with rights for others.

1. Anywhere DK's name is mentioned, I'll listen.
Frankly, I'll have nothing to do with the big money DLC types now described as the frontrunners. We tried that avenue in 2000 & 2004 and it blew up in our faces. No more compromises from me.

That said, where is BR getting his momey and support?

Thanks for listening.

3. Link?

Do you have a link to his platform and his stances on marriage rights etc?

Edit to add a link to his website: http://richardsonforpresident.com/

PS: For candidate that says he is pro-gay you would think he would at least mention gay rights on his web site AT LEAST ONCE? There isn't even a link in the blog section to AmericaBlog - pathetic if you ask me.

Im not going to endorse or support any candidate in the primaries that is not 100% clear they support equal federal marriage rights. Richardson apparently is so supportive the word "gay" does not even appear once on his site.

4. Here's his Web site
Which provides a link to issues that don't include marriage rights:
http://www.richardsonforpresident.com/

And here's an article from the NY Blade:
http://www.newyorkblade.com/2007/1-26/viewpoint/opinion/bill.cfm

The salient point:

Both oppose gay marriage, but when the New Mexico legislature pushed a “Defense of Marriage Act” in 2005, Richardson said he would veto it unless it was enacted alongside civil unions.

So far NM S603, Domestic Partnership has a chance of passing and he will do what he can to help. If it does come up on the floor, hopefully he will be in the State at the time so that Lt. Gov. Denish can be the President of the Senate in case there needs to be a vote to break any tie. At this point I don't think anyone can come out stridently for gay marriage. It takes a lot of blows to make a sculpture and one day one blow will do it, but we are not quite there yet.
Have you seen Obama, Hiliary, etc. really say anything to support GLBTs. Obama definitely doesn't support gay marriage.

7. I already am
He's tied with Wes Clark on my short-list, and if Clark opts out of the race my support will go to Richardson by default.
