Question about some GLBT movies |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 03:48 PM by lwfern
Can anyone give me an idea of the rating of the movie "Dorian Blues"?
It may not actually have a rating, but if you were the faculty advisor of a high school GSA group, would you feel comfortable taking some 15-18 year olds to see it outside of regular school hours?
What about:
Gay Pioneers Straight Jacket Girl Play The Graffiti Artist The Experiment: Gay and Straight
I don't want to screw up and take them to something that has sex scenes on screen, and get myself fired, but we have a local movie festival coming up, and a field trip would be cool.

4. I think they are unrated |
|
Netflix either doesn't list them or shows them as NR.
So I'm looking for anyone who has actually seen them to give me some feedback.

5. I have seen none of these films |
|
but as a teacher here is what I would do. I would, using the decriptions from the net, narrow down my choice to two. Then I would watch both films and choose which one from that. Then I would send home a permission slip with a description of the film.

The film festival is this weekend; one of the kids just brought the info to today's meeting (I posted the question during the meeting).
Field trip is probably not the right phrase to use, I tend to use that too loosely (if our class goes down the hall, I jokingly call it a field trip). It's on a Saturday, and the kids are driving themselves, so it's not like I could stop them from going. But I can informally guide them to an appropriate choice, and I can make a decision to go along with them (thus being part of a GSA activity), or I can stay home, and formally tell them I disavow all involvement in this.
These are little indie type films, so I can't just pop over to blockbuster to preview them in the next 2 days - I'd have to order them up through interlibrary loan, and it would take a few weeks. :(
I guess I could email the local triangle foundation (I think they are sponsoring it) and see if they have any thoughts.
