that someone is killed for being gay. I simply wonder where the compassion for human life has gone.

is that Ellen tends to refer to transgendered as "gay", just like she tends to refer to herself as "gay" rather than "lesbian". Can't be sure, but it was definitely a strong empathetic response.

8. When people go attend services at churches that teach gays are evil and God hates them,

do you ever wonder how a peaceful, loving person can do that on an ongoing basis and retain self-respect? I mean, it seems like it would be mutually exclusive.

Does it ever occur to parishioners that their church, through their dogma, is helping to teach children to be anti-social when it comes to their relationships with their gay and lesbian peers? It must occur to such people. So I don't know how such people rationalize their membership in such churches, but I won't ever be part of such an organization.

To my LGBT friends and family, I was far too long in understanding the hositility and anger you've had to face for being attracted to and/or loving others with which you've had to deal.

Wish we could get this really bumped so it's on fire. When this story first broke, the mention of 'why' by CNN was 'a disagreement between the two boys.' I just happened to hop over to the Advocate to read news, and saw the REAL reason for it...then about a week later, CNN had a small blurb that he was killed for being gay.

Very sad, and thanks to Ellen for getting it out there on her show.
